The market takes place daily, with merchants coming in directly from the country as well as merchants who get their produce from the big city market and then sell their produce in small neighborhood markets like this. Permanent shops line the area around the market.

In Arabic, the word for market is "suq." Suq means a place where there are both pushcart merchants such as this as well as permanent shops nearby. There's always a mix of shops and pushcarts and stands.
