| The waters of the Wadi Rheris have streamed 200 miles from their source in the High Atlas mountains to the desert oasis of the Tafilalt in southeastern Morocco. At this point the Rheris is irregular, flowing only occasionally. However, there is enough groundwater in the stream bed that water surfaces here and there to form shoals in the streambed in the Tafilalt. These shoals are given the special name of "guelta" (GEL-ta). |
