Measuring Snow for Water Content Afghanistan
	Afghan hydrologists insert a metal tube in the snowpack to obtain a core of snow, which can be used to determine water content. This can be used to predict streamflow from snowmelt. This technique (called snow surveying) was pioneered in the Sierra Nevada of California and Nevada.
