Go by train
Portland, Oregon (1987)
The imperative message of the Portland rail station is unchanged in the last several decades although obviously far more people are traveling by auto than by train. Nonetheless, it is undeniable that the railroad was THE shaping influence in the formation of many communities in the American West, and that it still exerts a rigorous pull, partly romantic, partly for reasons of comfort and efficiency. Besides, Greyhound Bus Stations rarely can match the attractiveness or distinctiveness of the train depots.
