	The fashions of ranching are changing quickly, especially in the near surrounds of major metropolitan areas like the San Francisco Bay Area. Increasingly, livestock ranchers, who own much of the land, and control still more, that makes up major urban greenbelts, have taken to selling off parcels of their land, or subdividing it themselves, taking profits where they will. This has produced a new suite of "ranches" that are quite different from anything that has come before.
