Splashland
Alamosa, Colorado (1986)
Splashland, which exists, barely, outside of Alamosa, Colorado, was once a prime resort where health-seekers could disport themselves in the cool waters of the upper Rio Grande country. This was part of the great effort of western communities to establish themselves as destination resorts. Alamosa never quite made it, even with the assistance of Splashland and its "natural warm water springs." Yet it remains a cultural icon of considerable cultural durability in southern Colorado.
