Todays market place was until 1811 the site of St.Kathrin Hospital, the 1st Hospital of the City of Esslingen. It has been used since then and until today for a Farmers Market on Wednesday's and Saturday's and events throughout the year. On the south side of the Marketplace towers the majestic City Church St.Dionys. First mentioned in 777 A.C. The 2 towers were built in 1213 and finished in the years of 1275 and 1310 A.C. On the west side is the Monestary St.Paul inaugurated April 29th, 1268 A.C.
