During the fall equinox weekend, 2006, Ganges Harbour on Salt Spring Island, BC, Canada, hosted a gathering of the West Coast Work Boat Association with over 40 vessels in attendance. In the Panorama, Harbourmaster Captain Bart Terwiel and his daughter Uma Lily are on board Salt Spring Island Harbour Authority’s little workboat “Martha”. To their left is Salt Spring Air’s DeHavilland Beaver DHC-2 float plane. The little shelter on the dock is a replica of the wheelhouse of the MV “Cy Peck” - built in 1922 and served as a ferry to the Gulf Islands from 1930 to 1966. Further clockwise is the last BC working steam tug “Master” – wooden hull, 85’, triple expansion steam engine, built in 1922 and lovingly restored by the SS Master Society for the Vancouver Maritime Museum. Next are the restored tugs “La Fille” and “Clive”, and the Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary's inflatable rescue boat.
